SouthWood Corporation has signed another three-year contract with Mecklenburg Country to provide signage for parks and greenways. SouthWood has manufactured signage since the mid-1980s for the city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
A bit of history on SouthWood’s partnership with Mecklenburg County greenways…There was a failing Greenway sign system previously installed by another sign manufacturer and Mecklenburg County came to SouthWood to assist them in developing a new system. SouthWood successfully developed a sign solution that would not fall apart again. Since 2009, SouthWood has provided beautiful and sustainable signs for the greenways that are still standing strong today.
Wayfinding signage for Mecklenburg County is complex, therefore it must conform with defined standards. SouthWood has a deep understanding of the system and was able to develop the current prototypes because of our knowledge of the various interchangeable components that are assembled to use throughout the Greenway system. The systems we designed and installed have a proven performance record while maintaining the original design intent of the program.
We are excited to continue developing and growing the greenway system alongside Mecklenburg County as their signage partner.
When we think skill and precision, we think Sam. Maybe that’s because he’s been working at SouthWood for over 30 years, maybe because he’s an expert at what he does, or both. He’s the go-to guy in the vinyl department that processes vinyl letters and digital prints and applies them to various substrates. Sam likes fishing on his boat and landscaping. He was also an avid karaoke singer in his youth.
